Your yard is calling and it's asking for a little springtime TLC.

How to Spruce Up Your Yard to Sell

Warmer weather is finally here and it’s time to prep your yard to sell! Or if you’re not planning on selling your home, it’s still a great time to get your outside space ready for fun with friends and family.

Here’s a list of weekend projects to help get your yard looking its best.

1. Lay Down Fresh Mulch

Not only will fresh mulch make your lawn pop, but it also has several other benefits, including fighting off weeds!

2. Pick Up and Rake Up

Pick up branches and debris from the past seasons and rake up all the leaves. It will make your yard look a lot cleaner and help the growth of your lawn.

3. Prune and Trim

Trees and shrubs can be a great addition to a property. That is, unless they look unkempt and overgrown, which will then detract from the look of your property. Trim and prune to make your bushes and shrubs look shapely and more put together, while also encouraging new growth.

Where branches have been damaged by the winter elements, prune back to live stems.

4. Plant Flowers

Flowers are a great way to add beautiful pops of color to your yard. Plant them in flower beds, along walkways, or keep some in planters at your front entryway.

5. Clean and Stain Your Deck

Staining your deck can make a big improvement to its look and extend the life of it.

6. Clean up Hardscape Surfaces

Refill joints between flagstones, reset any pavers that have moved out of place from freezing & thawing over the seasons, and pressure wash any areas that have built up leaf stains, algae, or dirt.

7. Add Stone or Brick

Flower bed stones add a beautiful finishing touch to your landscape. Stack them for a border wall, edge your walkways, or even use as a replacement for mulch in certain areas.

8. Freshen up Outdoor Furniture

You don’t have to buy new patio furniture, especially if you plan on selling. But freshen up what you do have by painting, deep cleaning or replacing cushion covers, and adding a new outdoor accent pillow or two. String lights are another inexpensive feature that you can add to a porch or patio that will make your outdoor space feel comfortable and inviting.

While a clean yard with thick, green grass and beautifully landscaped plants looks amazing, it takes time and dedication. If you want to take some items off your plate, call someone local that can do it for you!

From tools and supplies to local landscapers, there are plenty of great local businesses that can help!
